CarGurus Executive Assistant interview questions

Applied online and then a few days later received an email to set up an interview, pretty standard for Boston. When the HR rep called, he seemed surprised I was male (even though I have a traditionally male name) and then his demeanor changed to something between disinterested and hostile. He then danced around the fact without directly saying that this position in their office really needs a woman in it....alluding to them being slobs and needing a “mother” figure. He then finished the conversation abruptly and said that I’d hear from them within a week saying they’d let me know. I received an email within five minutes saying how impressed he was with me and my qualifications but they’d decided to go in a different route for this position.
