I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax (Clackamas, OR) in May 2016
Interview
Very friendly process. Was greeted at buisness office adn directed into nice quite room in back. Met with at least 4 people thorughout process. Before arriving I was informed of the entire process so I knew what to expect. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The interview process is given in steps. The more people you meet or longer you are there, the better chance you will be hired. I was offered the job after the interview. Feel free to bring snacks if at lunch time, and politely ask if they mind if you munch. Very easy going. The only slightly more stressful thing is when they ask you do "show" them a vehicle. They are really looking for your friendliness, confidence, and enthusiasm. They don't really care if you know car facts yet or not. They also make you take a long personality quiz on a computer.

First interview over the phone. Second in person with a mock car sale. Currently waiting to hear back whether I will be considered for a final interview at the moment.

Question 1
Tell me when you went out of your way and above for a manager.
I applied online. I interviewed at CarMax (Oceanside, CA)
Interview
I had a disappointing experience with interview process. After submitting an online application, I was contacted by a hiring manager/recruiter who scheduled a 20-minute phone interview for a specific date and time.
Unfortunately, no one called at the agreed-upon time, and I did not receive any communication explaining the missed interview or offering to reschedule. A few days later, I received an automated rejection email.
The lack of communication and professionalism throughout the process was frustrating. If a company chooses to move forward or not move forward with a candidate, at least a basic courtesy and timely communication is expected.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you available for a 20 minutes phone interview next week?
About a 15-20 minute phone interview. Basic questions like past job experience, are you comfortable with customer service? If they like you, you move on to an in person interview. A scripted interview with one of the sales managers asking open ended questions on why you would be a good candidate, if you have sales experience, & that you understand it is a 100% commission position. You will then complete a sales exercise on the lot, where you complete a brief walkaround of a vehicle & present some obvious features & benefits of the vehicle. If you get passed that, you meet the General Manager where he/she will be the final decision. He asked repetitive questions the sales managers did & then asked specific questions like "Describe a time you sold a product, what was the determining factor that resulted in the customer buying that product?"
