First I had an initial interview and then he asked me to do a coding challenge. I worked super hard on it to get it back to them within a week. I was then setup with 7 interviews including the CEO. I was then told that the team really liked me and that the next step was reference checks and they needed 3 names. I gave them 4 names including Chief Scientist, QA engineer, former CTO of my current company and a former team lead. The hiring manager wanted to speak with me as these references did not meet his stringent requirements and that I needed to provide additional names. I provided him another lead from a former company. He took his sweet time (2 weeks had elapsed). I called to check what was happening and then got a call a few days later from hiring manager saying that my skills did not match. I jumped thru all their hoops having a full day worth of interviews (one interview had to be rescheduled and I was accommodating). I also have never provided so many references and if my skills did not match then why did they put me thru hell to then tell me that my skills did not match.
