I applied in-person. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Peterlee, England) in Jun 2026
Interview
The interview was conducted by two hiring managers who were both professional, polite and respectful throughout the meeting. The technical discussion focused mainly on my previous manufacturing engineering experience, production processes, project work and problem solving. The questions were generally straightforward and included basic engineering concepts, such as manufacturing processes and a simple geometry question (circle area). The interview itself was a positive experience. However, after the interview I waited for over three weeks without receiving a clear outcome or meaningful updates. As I was actively seeking employment, I eventually withdrew my application because the recruitment process did not conclude with a clear decision or timely communication. After withdrawing my application, I was approached by two other recruitment agencies for similar Caterpillar opportunities. Once I confirmed that Caterpillar was the end client, I politely declined, as my previous recruitment experience had left me with little confidence in the process and I did not wish to repeat it as time and my energy is quite important for me.
