      Marketing Manager Interview

      Jan 24, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Vienna, VA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Cellebrite (Vienna, VA) in Jan 2025

      Interview

Don't do the "home assignment". I was interviewed by HR and later by the hiring manager (who was overseas) for a role on the marketing team. Both interviews went very well so the hiring manager asked me to complete a “project” as the next step in the process. I usually don't do projects, however, I read several reviews on Glassdoor that others had completed a project and went on to get hired, so I completed the project. I was given 72 hours to turn in the "home assignment". One week later, HR emailed me saying the hiring manager was very impressed with my “project”, but the position had been downgraded from a senior role to a specialist role, which means the salary posted (and confirmed in the first meeting) had been lowered substantially. Bait and switch. I hear companies do this to attract senior talent, interview them, then crowd-source projects in the hopes of paying senior talent a lot less. Frustrated, I told HR that I was no longer interested in the position.
