My experience interviewing with CenterPoint Energy was disappointing and concerning. The role was significantly misrepresented compared to the job posting. During the interview, the team openly described how difficult and unsupported the job would be, and there was no clear leadership plan in place. I was told I'd essentially be rebuilding a broken department alone, with minimal support or resources.
It became apparent there are serious internal issues—three highly experienced veteran measurement technicians had recently quit (something I only learned after asking directly), and the team had filled roles with underqualified candidates. The direct supervisor admitted to having no measurement experience, which was alarming for a technical leadership role.
However, the rest of the experience raised serious red flags about the culture, leadership, and overall direction of the department. I would not recommend applying to this group unless significant changes are made.
