I had my first virtual interview with a panel of four, where they asked behavioral questions. I was selected for the second and final round, which involved a data analysis task. The task required me to gather data on CMU charter schools from the Michigan school website, clean and analyze the data, and then create visualizations. I had to present my findings in person. After the presentation, the panel was very positive about my work, but I was ultimately rejected for the role. When I requested feedback, they mentioned that I needed a deeper understanding of the data's context, which would enhance both the visuals and the discussion. I strongly believe that I performed the analysis task excellently; however, I also think they need to assess whether a candidate can conduct the data analysis, understand the data, and create visualizations. Additionally, they should provide training for new hires, as they might not have sufficient information about the schools and the data. It’s their responsibility to determine if a candidate can complete the task effectively. Overall, this experience with CMU Charter was one of my worst.
