I applied online. I interviewed at Cerence AI (Cambridge, MA) in Feb 2025
Interview
I answered next day positive in their offer but they could not wait, so they have already proceeded to another candidate, even though we had made an agreement. They haven't informed me that i had to answer the same day.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Cerence AI (Montreal, QC) in Jan 2021
Interview
Took about a month and a half from the first interview to getting my offer. The process happened over the holidays and some key people were on vacation, presumably it would be faster in other parts of the year. I took this as a good sign since it made it appear to me that the company respected their paid time off.
I had five meetings with three different people, all virtual (due to COVID I never was able to visit the actual offices. This was as expected given the local guidelines in Montreal at the time). The first interview was a discussion with the development team's manager. After that I was sent a link to a set of Python exercises on HackerRank as well as a set of linguistics exercises by email. The Python exercises were quite difficult and required clever solutions, though the linguistics exercises were pretty easy. We had a follow-up meeting where we wen't over the Python exercises and I was asked to do a few more exercises live via screen-share.
The third meeting was with the research team's manager. We went over the linguistics exercises and then focused on my interests and goals. They were essentially trying to decide whether they wanted to place me in the development team or the research team. The fourth meeting was with a recruiter where we talked about salary, my expectations and my goals again. I then had a last meeting with him where he informed me that they'd like to hire me, and he sent details of the offer by email that day.
I had to wait another week after this to get my actual contract. I also had to pass a background check which took another week or so to process. All in all the process was a bit long and drawn out with week-long waits between many steps, but at the same time it felt pretty well managed.
