Exhibit and practice more professionalism, flexibility to candidates working full-time. I put in a strong effort, made persistent communication efforts/options for preparatory phone interview conversation, and followed up by email/phone. Ultimately, I reached out to "Mr. Smith" (per-say for anonymity; he works in the Texas office) so he could contact the hiring manager and inform him that I was trying to get a hold of him/included my availability. He ultimately called me back and said "That's it then. The times you offered to him he can't do. We have other candidates already scheduled." (<- It sounds like I was a "straw fill" candidate that you were truly interested in from the getgo. This recruiter was also very eager to end the conversation and didn't care that I was being professional. I exhibited reason, yet frustration for their lack of efforts in flexibility.) Shortly after that final attempt on my behalf/that exact phone conversation, I received an automated system email informing me I would not be considered further.
Don't reach out to candidates who are working full time if you are unwilling to meet them halfway. Simply because I had one phone conversation and not a second "preparatory call" disqualified me from gaining an in person interview. I was very forthcoming, flexible, and offered different dates and times to schedule the preparatory call.
Be forthcoming and more professional, provide more than one date and time for a preparatory call. don't disqualify candidates who are genuinely interested only to take the carpet out from under them.
