RUN AWAY - WASTE OF TIME. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF.
First, they send you English and Math and psychometric tests which you need to do at home - around 2,5 hrs of your time.
Then if you "pass" these exams you are invited for further interviews on their campus (they conduct in person interviews even in Coronavirus times as they do not believe in the pandemic, as stated by the school director himself during the interview. They are further right than republicans).
On the campus you are subject to additional 3-4 hrs of tests and an interview with the school director. Tests are way easier than preliminary teaching credential tests for public schools (CBEST in California). I scored high on all sections of CBEST and thought I nailed “Challenger tests”. Unfortunately, a day after the tests I was sent a one liner saying they won’t be moving forward with my application, without specifying why. All this after you waste around 8 hrs of your time. I believe it was due to the school director not liking me - I did not join in when he was saying his monologue and laughing at some parents and teachers at his school who do not believe in capitalism being the best economic system in the world..
Moreover, what came as a shock to me, coming from business background, was how unprofessional the Challenger school staff and environment is.. Tests on campus are all done ON PAPER and you feel like an elementary student again. This may also give them opportunity to "tamper" with the tests results, especially if they don't like the candidates. Well into my 2nd hour of tests, I was interrupted and told that the school director would like to speak with me. To my dismay, when I returned back to my “desk” from the interview, I noticed someone took away 2 sheets of paper with the remaining test. I went up to the school secretary and voiced my concern. She said it was her who took these papers while I was having an interview with the school director because these 2 papers she gave me were unnecessary (she didn’t even say in what way these were not needed, even after I prompted) FOR HER TO COME IN TO MY DESK AND TO FUMBLE THROUGH MY TESTS PAPERS, WHILE I WAS HAVING AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DIRECTOR IN ANOTHER ROOM, WAS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, even more so during coronavirus times!!! I had to go back to the desk, finish writing the test and touch the same papers she had just touched on my desk, without my consent.
Shockingly unprofessional. In a way I am glad I was not offered to work with them…
