I was contaced by their external recruiter for a position, which was not quite defined since they did not know what they wanted, which involved project management, a little engagement and account management for a specific customer. Things moved along fairly quickly and I had an interview with the CEO, who was in the area visiting the client, at a hotel. It was fairly information and she did not have a copy of resume. She spent half the time describing the role we had more of a discussion. A very direct person and a bit old school (colorful language, very direct questions). It went well and then I met with the local account rep and former VP of Engineering. He was late to our meeting at Starbucks and also did not appear prepared for the interview as he had no copy of the resume and reviewed it during our meeting. Again informal. It also went well and was told the next step was to take a Caliper (personality) test and about a week or so after that they would get the result and we would move onto the next steps.
So I take the Caliper test, and provided the outside recruiter an update. More than two weeks goes by and I hear nothing. Contact the recruiter to find out, and she tells me she will ask. They have been out, the VP was sick, etc. Another few weeks goes by and nothing. Again reach out to the recruiter who said she would follow up. So finally a few weeks later I speak with the recuriter. The company decided they needed an account manager first and were focusing on that first and would come back to the project manager position.
Bottom line, not very impressed. The interviews seem to go well, but then they never provided an update. Not impressed by the recruiter either. The fact that they did not let me know what was going and still could not decide on what the position was did not bode well for my confidence. Everything was left open ended as I did not hear no thank you. Regardless of whether they decide to move forward or not I have lost interest and I am not impressed with how the whole process was handled.
