      Mental Health Clinician Interview

      Jun 30, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Charlie Health (Austin, TX) in Apr 2022

      Interview

I was encouraged to apply to this agency since their mission statement aligns with my values and I’m experienced with the client population that they serve. I applied online and heard back quickly to schedule an interview with a recruiter. During the time between when that initial interview was scheduled and the actual interview date, I had multiple recruiters message me on LinkedIn using vague language about a “client” that these professional recruiters were hired to work for. I asked if it was Charlie Health and they said yes. I said I already had an interview scheduled. Then I received emails from additional CH employees/HR to see if I was interested in scheduling an interview. I informed them that I already had one scheduled. It was like nobody was on the same page. The initial interview was very surface level, getting to know you stuff where the interviewer was really trying to sell CH to me. My interviewer asked questions about my resume and we scheduled a clinical interview for a W2 position. That interview didn’t go as well. There was some role play and hypothetical scenario questions but other than that my interviewer wasn’t engaged and wasn’t based out of my state when my previous interviewer said she would be. She was dressed very casually (t-shirt) and it seemed like my interview caught her off guard despite it being scheduled on her calendar for 2 weeks (e.g., not knowing what to ask, lots of background noise, sighing and clicking around on her computer when I’d ask questions, etc.). Unlike the initial interviewer, she didn’t know anything about my work history and was busy messing around on her computer, which she kept assuring me was all things related to the interview. She gave me the same pitch as the initial interviewer about the great work culture and benefits but said that I needed to be okay with policies changing on a daily basis. When it got time to discussing salary, she thought I was interviewing for a 1099 role. I corrected her that it was full-time W2 and she proceeded to try and convince me to do full-time 1099 where I would have all the same responsibilities and the same time commitments (Mon-Fri, 2:00-10:00, with a heavy implication that optional Saturday mornings were actually mandatory for new hires) with none of the benefits. When I asked outright about pay, she was cagey and kept turning it around to ask what I expected to be compensated hourly. When I again said I was interviewing for a salaried position, she told me to just break down my expected salary to an hourly rate. I gave her my expected pay and she was confused on if I was stating it as hourly or salaried. At the end of the interview I was told that I would receive my offer in about 5 business days. Honestly, I’m not surprised that I got ghosted.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Charlie Health in Jan 2022

      Interview

I was contacted on LinkedIn and told I could have a meeting to ask questions and learn more. Then I got the calendar invite and saw it labeled as an "interview." During the video call, I learned it was an interview with a recruiter. Super weird and awkward. Nobody asked for my resume until I offered it. Next I got an email request to schedule an Executive Interview with a clinician. Perhaps this is a new way of hiring for remote roles, but still it was quite shocking and felt odd.
