Phone screen, followed by call with hiring manager, followed by on-site marathon with 6 interviewers, ended with a cultural interview. People are fantastic, but I don't know why it felt like the team is starting from scratch, lacked any planning or strategy as of today. I'm not too pleased with myself for giving up all my strategic plans (stuff that I would have implemented), because they ended up hiring someone who worked for a company they'd like to potentially partner with. I didn't get selected because, I was told they enjoyed their chat wth the other candidate a little more than they did with me, cultural fit. Fair enough, too each his own. I think it's a great environment, great office, great benefits, free food which makes it compelling.
That said, I'm not sure how differentiated the product is, very commoditized space (over 3000 competitors). Uber renewed their contract for an 8 figure deal, I'm guessing that's bulk of their revenue. Please ask what their exit strategy is. Overall good people, and I hope the they are successful.
VP of business development is from Stanford. Interviewing with him was a little tricky. Slight accent, extremely sharp, but not sure how any of his questions would have helped with decision making. He was also feeling sleepy during the interview. I saw his eyes close a couple times, or may be he was pretending. If it's the latter it was really disrespectful. That said, I'd give hm the benefit of doubt, he certainly seems like a smart dude, based on some of his answers to my questions.
