I applied for the position online and a recruiter reached out to me, inviting me to set up a 25 min. screen.
I did so, but unfortunately, tested positive for Covid a few days before and was unable to make the interview. As per the meeting invite instructions, I rescheduled for a few days later, hoping that they could accommodate me but also understanding that timing might impact my chances.
I didn't hear anything back so I assumed the reschedule was fine. Then at 9 pm the night before the new interview time, the recruiter canceled the interview. They apologized for the short notice and asked me to put time on the calendar for the following day.
I attempted to reschedule, but their calendar had no availability so I tried for the day after. I also sent a short email explaining this and heard nothing back.
One hour before we were supposed to finally meet, the recruiter canceled again and said the role was filled.
I don't have any issue with the timing not working out, but did they really not know that the role was filled until an hour before a phone screen round?
Please try to be considerate of your candidate's time and just let us know if it's not going to work out. Really, it's ok.
