Interview
First round with an HR rep. Second round with a panel. First round was fine - asking about background and basic qualifications for the position. Second round was with a group of people who did a round robin of about 10 or so questions. No crazy questions. Given that everyone is now doing things remotely, this was over video chat. While it is fine to keep video off in a one-on-one chat, video really should be kept on in a group setting. All of the interviewers in the panel interview kept theirs off save for the beginning and end - that creates such an imbalanced power dynamic where they can see 100% of your reactions and responses, but you can't gauge a single one of theirs. You are interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you so it's not okay to create this super uncomfortable and completely unnecessary dynamic.

Question 1
Why Chemonics? Tell us about yourself. Take three minutes and brief us about something. Describe the security situation in a country of your choice.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Chemonics International in Jun 2024
Interview
The interview process began with a phone screening conducted by HR, followed by a panel interview with three individuals several weeks later. There was approximately a three-week gap between the two stages.
The recruiter and the interview panelists were kind, encouraging, and responsive throughout the interviews, which I appreciated. I was informed that I would receive an update on the next steps shortly, but I was ultimately left without any further communication.
It's disappointing and disrespectful for candidates to undergo two rounds of interviews without receiving any follow-up. While candidates are expected to be prompt and communicative, companies often do not uphold the same standard.
I have recruited and interviewed for positions in the past, so I understand the challenges of the process. However, I still made efforts to regularly communicate with candidates out of respect for their time and efforts. Too bad Chemonics doesn't do the same.
