      Operator Interview

      Apr 25, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 9+ months. I interviewed at Chick-fil-A Corporate

      Interview

      (1) The online interest form is pretty simple, but be sure to be detailed and don't assume you will make it to the next level. For each essay, try to use the entire word count allowed with meaningful details, stories, etc. (2) The online application is similar, but just a lot more intense. I think when I printed off the pdf after I did it, mine was 20+ pages long. The essays are similar to those you already did, just much longer now and you really have to want it. (3) The phone interview was fairly brief, but be ready to get personal. I remember specifically one thing they had me do was "brag" about my family, tell them why I loved them so much, what made me happy about my life, etc. Be ready to discuss the details of anything you put on your application, because they will have it in front of them and ask you about a specific sentence you wrote. (4) The field interview was long for me, 2+ hours. Again they have the application printed in front of them so be ready to walk them through some of your answers. The questions are very behavioral - what decision did you make in life and why, what would you do differently, what would your fellow co-workers say about you, etc. (5) The corporate interview is usually with more than one person, and they tag-team the questions. This one is very in-depth. They want to know about each and every decision point in your lifetime, what choices you had, what choice you made, why you made it, how it turned out, would you do it again, change anything, etc. To this point they never talked at all about what I would do as an Owner/Operator, how I would run the restaurant, etc. The did ask about what times in my life/career had I led organizations, established visions, set goals for an organization and worked towards them, etc. I have an MBA and not once throughout the entire interview process did they ever ask me specifics about any of my education.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Just trying to remember decisions from long ago in your past. I am in my 30s, and there were questions about decisions I made in high school, which was tough to recall on the spot.

Pre recorded process was awkward, only 30 seconds to think about the question and two minutes to answer. I think on one of them I got cut off and feel like I'm going to be cut out of the running.
