      Systems Engineer Interview

      May 25, 2015

      Atlanta, GA

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Chick-fil-A Corporate (Atlanta, GA) in May 2015

      Interview

I found the position and applied online. I received an email that wanted me to fill out resume questions. After I filled out these questions and submitted them I got another email a few days later. This email was asking to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview was just trying to get to know me. They focus on your volunteer work and a lot on what you did during high school (clubs, sports, etc.). The interview was about 30 minutes long. After this I received another email about a week later asking to schedule an interview at their corporate office in Atlanta. They pay for your hotel, food, and mileage if you are more than 50 miles away. The in person interview took from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. I interviewed with two HR people, then a POS person, then what would be my supervisor, then I had lunch with two people, then I interviewed with the current person in the role that I was applying for, and lastly I took a SAT style test. I was not prepared for this test and didn't pace myself very well. My advise would be to practice this. The test consisted of a word watching portion (what word is most like this word), a math portion, a quick math portion (fractions and simple equations designed to make you put the answer closest to the correct answer), pattern portion ( find a pattern in some numbers and letters and figure out what the next are), and lastly you are given sequence diagram style graphs(figure out the next steps in the sequence based on a given paragraph). After this I got an email two weeks later saying that they were perusing other candidates. The in person interview focused a little on technical aspects but I felt mostly they just wanted to know the type of person you are. The interview process was fairly relaxed and I thought it went good. I think even if you are under qualified Chick-fil-A will still let you go a little bit into their hiring process. Overall I think Chick-fil-A is looking for a very specific set of people to fill their high level corporate positions. They base it on the type of person you are or what you do outside of the workplace and they don't focus as much on your qualifications. If you don't feel that their morals, values, and volunteer spirit align perfectly with yours I would probably look elsewhere.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Literally every single interviewer started off with tell me about yourself. From there it would be the standard interview questions. A few good interview questions that I had were: Tell me some things you like about your current job. Some things you don't Tell me some things you want to improve about yourself Tell me some personal things you want to improve about yourself
