Circle Internet Financial interview questions

First I was contacted by the recruiter to discuss the role. He told me that they have recently been growing and are in need of an Engineering Manager to lead junior developers. After that I had a phone screening with the hiring manager, which went really well where we discussed the role of Engineering Manager and he described the role as a role that will work very closely with the product management to define product roadmap, stay on top of deliverables, be the point of escalation and mentor junior developers. The follow up after the call was Technical Coding Interview with one of their Engineering Managers, where I was asked a simple question, which I decided to solve in Java. I solved the question in a very short amount of time. We discussed time complexity of the algorithm. Thinking the interview went really well, I reached out to the recruiter to figure out next steps. I heard back from him and the response was "you are very strong in Java and we are looking for someone who has JavaScript skills because initially the role would be doing JavaScript development". I was very surprised and disappointed with that response. No one took the time to explain it to me in the beginning that they are strictly looking for JavaScript TechLead role. No body told me JavaScript versus Java matters. I am pretty good with JavaScript. This interview with them left a very sour taste in my mouth about the company, the people in there and the kind of people they look to work there. I would never want to interview with them.

Applied online and was contacted by the recruiter. The recruiter went over my background and I presented my experience in many relevant areas for now and for future. I think recruting is going to be a stone age profession soon as this doesnt add any value—salary/work authorizations etc can be had with online forms.
