I was contacted by their recruiting team, the first call should have be a red flag, but I ignored. The recruiter missed our call, and only after send a message trying to reschedule. I've waited for 15 minutes before being kicked out from Meet, but, I was able to do the next call and the recruiter was a very nice person.
After that, 2 other interviews. One for coding, to make a movie db integration, backend on rails and frontend on react, quite nice interview and interviewer.
The problem came with the last interview, to be system design. It was not.
Was a lie dressed as "informal", there was no design at all, and were 2 junior engineers asking random questions without any base "explain why nodejs doesnt scale", for real?
I even put on test at the end, to pull another red flag, and was clear for me they were juniors indeed. Asked about using a new technology, changing the way they do things right now, were they going to be up to? The answer was a very clear "No, we would not". A more senior engineer would reply "if it makes sense for the company, we would be happy to discuss new technologies".
Didnt go through the next steps, fake system design interview was so bad that was pretty much impossible for anyone to go through.
PS: The junior engineers interviewing were very nice people, but interviewing for a much more senior position has their limitations. The company need to have a better process, need to understand better their needs. This was just a really bad call.
