Interview was easy since the people (2 of 3) had no idea what GIS is, does or can do. I was asked what kind of car I would be and why. I felt this to be a pretend executive question. (After working for this person, I stand by that opinion.) My experience began with a red flag. The call to interview was placed at 7:15 am. While scheduling my interview, my future boss put me on hold, while admittedly driving, to take Nextel field calls that I clearly overheard. It wasn't classy, nor professional. After I interviewed, I was called by my future boss and offered the job, then he asked me to drive 2 hours to some remote town (where he had a work event) to meet and discuss the job. He clearly stated this was against City policy. Needing the job, I complied. He consumed alcohol and drove a Public Utilities vehicle in my presence. I'm certain that is against policy. For over an hour, this person did nothing more than tell me who could and could not be trusted at the office. Very reminiscent of high school. Some things this person said were alarming, but i tried to reason it by thinking, "This is just one person's opinion." That later proved to be a mistake. I needed the job so I downplayed the whole ordeal. If I could do it again, I'd have very choice words for this person and their actions. Sadly, it is my opinion, based on sick things I've seen at that place, that had I expressed my concerns during the pre-hire meeting, I wouldn't have gotten a go to work there.
