The interview was straightforward for about the first ten minutes.
The interview asked about my background and interest in the company. I replied to both questions with ease. However after the second question, the interview became awkward; The interviewer then asked “any questions?” Normally at this point the interviewer would be elaborating on the position, but I had to pull the answers out of them to learn more as well as any information wasn’t listed on the job posting. The interviewer informed me that this would be the initial opening for this position in the company but that the legal department would have more information.
I understand that recruiters will only have the general know-how about positions, but it was obvious that the recruiter was inexperienced. There was no effort into “selling the company” on their own, I had to pull it out of them. Furthermore, it seemed the company made their decision on me instantaneously as I got a rejection email one business day later. Not sure if that correlates to the recruiter’s inexperience but who knows.
