      Finance Interview

      Oct 6, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Clipboard in Sep 2023

      Interview

I was asked to do a case study which took multiple hours+ before meeting with any members of the team to learn about the company. After submitting the case study, I received scripted, automatic reply of rejection with no feedback one week after inquiring multiple times for next steps. This was a very one way interview process that requires you to do a case study before you can pick up any clues about the company. Clipboard has not shared much about what the company does, how the team is structured or what the role entails. My suggestion is that you should not commit to do any case study until you feel that you know sufficiently about the company and are absolutely sure that this is a place where you want to work. I wish that I read other comments about this company here before I completed the case study. What everyone says is true. Recommend that you only commit to doing the case study once you are sure about the role.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked to do a case study. Case study was pretty straightforward, but took some time as I wanted to ensure that answers were thorough and work quality was good. I believe that it is challenging to make an assessment of the company without meeting members of the team and learning about the company. It is very strange that they make you spend all this time to prepare for a case study without explaining much about the role, team and work. They are not even creative with the process and takes a case study from another company. Companies should be sharing the vision and selling the role just as interviewees should do the best they can do sell why they are best fit for the roles applied. That's how a normal process should work. I believe that this is a completely broken interview process and off for the company to have people do all this work without even taking a moment to share their vision with the candidates or selling the role first. Also the fact that they are making candidate decisions on a mere excel file / output slides of a case study without meeting in person or supplementing their decisions without knowing anything about the candidate shows what kind of thought process they take here at Clipboard.

      Interview

You will likely have 3 interviews: Manager, Director, and COO. You may also be asked to complete a case study. You may not love the idea of completing a case study but this is your opportunity to showcase your skills and your knowledge. If you want to work here, put in the effort to prove yourself through this case study. You will also likely have a reference check and a background screening once you are offered the position.

Open discussion on the current state and the desired state with an emphasis on performance metrics, your thinking process, and your experience.
