Like everyone else, I received an seemingly automated email inviting me to do a case study – which they note that after reviewing your submission, you MAY be asked to interview with the Hiring Manager to present and discuss your case.
Oddly, they note that, “There is no deadline for the case. However, we always value speed at Maple and look forward to hearing from you soon!”
Why does every role they’re hiring for seem to be sent the same convoluted case studies?
None of this is paid.
Clicking on the link to their “case study” leads to a document outlining their interview process and clarifying that they’re actually requesting TWO case studies from you throughout the internet process! The first required case study is ridiculously long, and notably, it’s supposed to be done as “account management and growth strategy”. I wasn’t applying for an Account Manager or Business Development/Sales role, but for a Strategy & Operations role. They also want a 10-15 minute presentation including a Google Slides deck and separate agenda. The second case study is listed as being for “growth strategy, operations and analytics”.
There are a total of 5 steps listed, including 3 interviews. The whole process makes it very clear that you will be exploited, overworked, and underpaid. It feels like such a scam.
I’m well-qualified, well-educated, with a lot of experience and excellent references. I’m honestly appalled at this terrible approach to interviewing and hiring. I won’t be bothering with any of this, nor should anyone seeking legitimate employment. Godspeed to whatever poor souls do end up working for this company.
