      Customer Success Manager Interview

      May 11, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Cloudflare (London, England)

      Interview

tl;dr - slow, tedious, and repetitive I applied online and 2 weeks (!) later was contacted by a recruiter to setup a phone screen which took place the next day. The phone screen was essentially asking what I know about Cloudflare, the job etc. Standard initial screening. 1 week later I had another phone interview with the department head which went very well despite them being late to the call (especially a problem when you're staying up late at night to have a call with San Francisco). This interview went well and was asking about my prior experience, more details about the role, and opening up the line for any QA. All positive so far. 3 weeks later, in which time I sent multiple follow ups to see if there had been any advancements, I was finally invited for an on-site interview with 4 members of the Cloudflare team which took place the week after. Each of the team members I met were very courteous, transparent, and asked useful questions. Despite this, I was repeating myself 4 times over the 2 hour interview as the same questions were being asked to me. 3 weeks later, and, you guessed it, in which time I sent a follow up reminder, I was finally contacted to say they wanted to invite me on-site, again, to deliver a mock presentation with a few members of their team. I spent a long time preparing the presentation including a lot of research, and using the Cloudflare product extensively to understand it's full potential. Not all of the invited team members turned up to the interview - not an issue, I delivered it regardless. It seemed to go well, but wasn't really the most conventional of scenarios. Following the second on-site interview, I sent 2 follow up emails over the course of 2 weeks and had no reply. Nearly 2 weeks later, over 3 months since the initial application, I was finally contacted to say Cloudflare wouldn't be continuing my application. Disrespectfully, I received no feedback and no insights - nothing. An extremely disappointing process and it left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. Notably, I was never really asked about my personal life, my interests outside of work or any other non-Cloudflare related topics. This probably reflects other reviews on Glassdoor where the culture is extremely work, work, work. They said hindsight is 20/20 and looking back, I'm relieved I'm not working at Cloudflare and am now happily employed at another company.

      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Cloudflare in Jul 2025

      Interview

Hiring Manager, HR, Panel, VP and above, and founder. It literally took 2 months to get back to say I didn't get the job even though they led you to believe you were still in the game of getting the job. It was not the best interview process. They use the STAR process, the mock presentation was interesting but honestly no one really listens to you. You can tell with the questions they ask afterwards. Im pretty sure I did really well but it is what it was. Not impressed with the entire process, they don't really get to know you or your skill set. You need to be a good actor for this company in order to get in is my guess. TWO month process was so ridiculous oh and in the end you get a generic email not even personalized that you didn't get the job even though they say please reach out and you follow up professionally. Not cool

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Cloudflare (London, England) in Sep 2024

      Interview

Very long process with a first call with the recruiting team , followed by a call with the hiring manager and calls with the sales and engineering teams. The last steps are a mock QBR in front of a panel and a call with a C level

      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Cloudflare (Munich, Bavaria) in Nov 2022

      Interview

The Interviewing is a 7 Stage process of which the selection of your CV counts as number 1 and the following call with the hiring manager as number 2. Number 3 is to use Cloudflare DNS on your own website, after which you should write up an assessment of your experience (no indication as how this should look. In Stage 2 with the hiring manager, he did mention that they have a long interview process and move slow. The initial interview just went through every step of my professional history not focusing on what one can actually bring to the table as a CSM - hence none of the questions were focused on the role of a CSM to assess suitability based on my experience. The interview went 15min over the scheduled time, however even before that time ran out I mentioned that I had another meeting, the hiring manager continued for another 5 mins regardless of other commitment. After completing Stage 3 the following day and no response to a question I had for three full days, I decided not to continue the interview process notifying the hiring manager by email, after which of course I shortly received an email that I wasn't selected anyway. Make of that what you will:)
