I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Cloudflare (New York, NY) in Jul 2020
Interview
The call with the recruiter and hiring manager were great, it was during the first round portfolio share that I met a designer that to my surprise forced me to share my pronouns, never giving me an option to decline. This made the rest of the interview incredibly uncomfortable and unnerving as they interrupted frequently making it difficult for me to showcase more than one project and as I attempted to segway into the next project I had planned to share within the 45 minutes we had scheduled I was cut off in a way that felt needlessly mechanical and cut throat. What should have been an opportunity for me to share relevant work and put my best foot forward was overtaken by this designer's desire to control every second of the time we had scheduled, which ultimately never gave me a chance to present myself and my work. I felt humiliated and completely put on the spot to first share my pronouns unexpected and then struggled with the interviewer to actually get a word in while trying to share my work.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Cloudflare in Mar 2024
Interview
The interview process was unnecessarily lengthy and exhaustive. After about 17 dedicated hours of interviewing their design exercise towards the end of the process was ridiculous. The fake scenario given was not relatable and they didn’t provide enough background or context. Then, after declining me for the role, they refused to provide any feedback whatsoever which was disappointing after dedicating so much time to their process.
