Questions about sales experience. Overall it has been as expected. I'm still in the first two interviews but so far I've enjoyed the process and excited to see where it goes. Biggest concern is pay.

      Interview

My recent experience initially appeared promising but eventually took a disappointing turn. I entered the process through a referral from a current employee. The interview journey began with a phone screening, followed by discussions with different team members, including assessments related to technical sales, company culture, sales strategies, and a presentation task. It was communicated that a final step involving an executive interaction would be required. The process included regular interactions with the team, aiming to move the process forward. However, despite the positive start, the progression started to stall. A communication was conveyed about the potential offer and the internal steps it hinged upon. This included collaboration with the finance department to secure the necessary resources. The intention to extend an offer was confirmed, with assurance that other candidates' evaluations had concluded. Subsequent steps, as outlined, included an executive conversation and offer extension. However, communication started to wane, with only vague responses provided. This communication breakdown persisted over weeks, leading to a lack of clarity. A shift was observed when I received an automated out-of-office email reply. Frustrated with the lack of headway, I escalated the situation by sharing the communication thread with a relevant party. Regrettably, the response from this higher-up was equally unclear. The situation remains unresolved even after four weeks, without any definitive steps in sight. Commitments made regarding necessary documentation were unmet, and communication with the team member handling recruitment dwindled. This prolonged uncertainty became untenable, especially as I had already accepted another job offer. The current state leaves me questioning if closure will ever be provided. The evident communication challenges and lack of progress contribute to this uncertainty. Considering these experiences, doubts have arisen about their competency. This situation is disappointing, particularly given the considerable time and effort invested in the interview process.

      Mid Market Account Executive Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Cloudflare (Toronto, ON) in Jun 2023

      Interview

My experience with the interview process for the Mid-Market Account Executive role turned out to be far more challenging than anticipated. Getting to the interview stage itself was an uphill task, despite connecting with five recruiters on LinkedIn (with a clear note of my intention), I received no response after they accepted my connection request. Finally, after persistent follow-ups, I managed to secure an interview. To my surprise, the interviewer seemed to be under the impression that I had applied for an Enterprise AE role. The ensuing 20-minute discussion was less than satisfactory, and it became evident that there was a mismatch in expectations. The interviewer recommended circling back to the recruiter for a proper interview, yet the recruiter's disregard for candidates was unfortunately all too familiar. After a few months, I decided to try for a different role. I reached out directly to a potential hiring manager, who exhibited a positive response. The process involved sharing my resume and completing assigned tasks. However, the follow-up experience was disheartening. Despite the positive feedback on my task submission, my attempts to seek updates through emails were met with silence. I received a lone response stating, “My HR team will get in touch with you to schedule an interview, I like your profile.” Regrettably, I cannot overlook the evident lack of consideration for candidates throughout this process. The disregard for clear communication and transparency raises concerns about the company's culture. It's disheartening to witness a company that undermines the potential of its future employees. In conclusion, my experience with this interview process has left me with a strong reservation and I cannot recommend considering employment with a company that demonstrates such a negative approach.

      Account Executive Mid-Market Interview

      Interview

This had to be one of the most frustrating interview process I’ve ever been a part of. The sheer lack of respect and communication was non existent. After 2.5 months of interviews with 5 different people a verbal offer was given. The “final” verdict came down to a C-Suite conversation and I drew a member the General Counsel. This person was 7 minutes late to a 15-20 minute meeting. In the background you could tell they were preoccupied throughout the meeting. They gave feedback and said I was the one that didn’t sound excited about the role and wouldn’t be moving forward. Yet this person couldn’t give me their full attention? And 1 brief call trumped the 5 other calls and yes endorsements I received from actual members of the sales team that I would be working with daily. To top it off, I was called by the Director of Sales to see what happened and if they could still move me forward to a written offer. Was told no promises could be made, which I get, but they would let me know the next day… 1.5 months and 8 emails later to this person, I am still waiting to be told yes or no. Word to the wise, Treat people with respect. They are putting in their time/effort into your company, just as much as you are.
