I applied online. I interviewed at Clutter (Los Angeles, CA) in Nov 2018
Interview
The recruiter call was a pleasant 30 minutes of the normal stuff (tell me about yourself, why Clutter, ect.). After the call, I was told I would be setup with a technical phone screen with two engineers.
Bad connection on the technical phone screen. Two of the engineers are spouting off random CS trivia for me to answer for ~30-40 minutes (what is a closure, hashtables, ect,).
Then, the reminder of the time (about 20 minutes) was on coder pad for me to code up a string-related, non-trivial algorithm problem. Normally, I'm quite good at these but this turned out to be a train-wreck. The interviewer was completely uninterested in walking through the problem with me or any ideas I had for the solution. After 20 minutes, I was told we were out of time.
Overall, it was a horrible experience. It was a completely unreasonable question to expect an interviewee to answer in 20 minutes (under pressure, with a completely detached interviewer).
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Clutter in Apr 2022
Interview
Had the first HR screening round and
HM screening round then got an email that internally role is closed.
Overall there was a little communication gap as I had to email them regarding an update
Had a call with a recruiter, and then they schedule an onsite for me 3 months later. They had to fly me out and I booked the flights through them. I decided to stay an extra few days, and paid for accommodations on my own. Less than 12 hours before my flight and a day before the interview, they canceled my flight without talking to me beforehand. They called me two hours after the flight cancelation explaining what "VC" was and telling me they had to cancel the interview because they were no longer hiring for the position for "business needs." Truly awful of them and inconsiderate. Would not interview with this company.
Was sent over to fininsh an online coding challenge. The standardized HackerRank coding challenge was 75 minues long, has one question, and applicants are evaluated based on the coding challenge result.
