      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Clutter (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2017

      Interview

The most unprofessional interviewer I've encountered in my life! First off, I couldn't hear properly, I had the feeling he was in a conference room with a bunch of people and he put me on speaker. He didn't bother to talk slower or closer to the phone, didn't even think twice about my difficulty hearing from the very beginning. Second, this was a phone screen but he asked only one question pertaining to my background: "walk me through your background" and that's it. As soon as I was done, he went straight to specific questions about Excel and SQL. The thing is, the questions were dumb. Excel: what does lookup and indirect functions do? | SQL: difference between where and having. Like someone said before, these are the types of questions that don't really tell you anything, people that don't have experience could've easily had searched online during the interview. After that, he gave me a probability case with calculations that needed to be made - again, this was a phone screen and no instructions were given, so I found it rather unprofessional. Even Google when doing interviews with "unexpected" questions, gives out an email with instructions a day or two before. By the time that was over, he decided the interview was over. This rubbed me off the wrong way because all I had read about this company on reviews and so on pointed to how they value culture above all else. This guy didn't ask me anything about who I am, what drives me, what I did on a daily basis, how I was a fit for this role or the company. He didn't even explain the position itself or the company! Extremely unprofessional. I asked a few questions but he didn't really let the answers turn into a conversation, seemed very uninterested from the very beginning, like he had things to do and didn't want to be there. I'm sure it was a matter of luck, but it made me question the company as a whole.
