I was really excited to speak with the Coda team. I started off with a conversation with their recruiter, who then coordinated a follow up call with another member of their team. This call was more of a demo than anything else, the interviewee showed up six minutes late and then seemed disinterested in the conversation the entire time. I figured that this was likely a fluke, everyone has their off days after all, so when the recruiter reached out to coordinate the next call in the interview process I was excited to move forward. This third conversation was great, the Coda team member was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to answer my questions. From that conversation, the recruiter reached out again with a take home assignment. I wasn't thrilled with this step in the process for two reasons: 1. It wasn't incredibly relevant to the position I was interviewing for. 2. Any company that assigns you a take home assignment knowing that you have a full time job and a life outside of your current full time position clearly doesn't really appreciate and respect a work/life balance. Still with interest in the company, I completed the assignment over the weekend after putting my daughter down for a nap. I submitted the completed assignment to the recruiter that same day and never heard back to confirm that it was received. I followed up twice more to check in and never heard back. After taking up hours of my time, it would have been courteous to reach out and advise that they decided to move forward with another candidate. Complete disrespect from this organization.
