We are saddened to hear that this candidate perceived what was an extensive interview process to be a job offer. In fact, there was no mention of an offer or the steps we take in order to confirm employment, which typically include reference checks, securing NDAs, and actually receiving/signing an offer letter – as is standard at most companies. As he notes himself, we were still trying to coordinate an interview with our COO when we discovered our needs had changed. In no way, shape or form did we use the candidate's interview or exercises in our own work with clients. After we informed him of our decision not to move forward: 1. This candidate threatened to post negative reviews about us before discussing the matter privately 2. He demanded compensation for no actual work completed or job offer made, and tried to guilt us into doing so by copying his personal family members on correspondence 3. At no time was he obligated to an exclusive contract. In fact, he could have worked in the interim or decided to go with another offer and there would have been no repercussions. In prior correspondence, he further noted that he would continue to work on other projects while he was waiting on an update from our team. 4. The salary range was explained to him in further interviews, and he was willing to continue with the application process despite what he is now stating was miscommunicated or untruthful. Additionally, this candidate was fully aware that we were determining the needs of our company, and we were updating him every step of the way. As soon as we found out our team's needs had changed, we informed him that we would need to postpone our conversations until we were able to do so. This is the first time we've spoken with a candidate who's promised to threaten us with negative reviews because of what he perceived was a job offer - which as you can see above, was not the case. We wish this candidate the best of luck, but did not want others to be misinformed about our interview process or our company culture.
