The phone screening went smoothly, but the formal phone interview was disappointing. When I explained that I applied because I wanted to learn more about a different side of engineering and manufacturing distribution, the interviewer reacted negatively and repeatedly insisted that I “wanted to be a PM,” rather than asking normal interview questions or allowing me to clarify my perspective.
He frequently cut me off and didn’t give me the opportunity to fully answer or address his assumptions. When I asked about growth opportunities, he said growth “doesn’t come easy” and then stated outright that the role was essentially just ordering badges. Overall, the experience felt dismissive and unprofessional.
