Received a phone screening by HR before being invited for a 1:1 onsite interview. Onsite interview was conducted by the same HR person in a face-to-face session followed by another session with cafe manager. Was asked a set of behavioral questions though it felt more of an ice-breaker with the company.
Later that day, the same HR person called to schedule another round of interview the following week with General Manager at Humboldt location (HQ). This is where the "real" interview actually being conducted. GM will ask and judge your competencies with situational questions on sales skills and personality. Prepare yourself to be asked with questions of Cafe Manager difficulty for merely Shift Leader qualification.
Overall, it was a lengthy and redundant process for a typical company's bottom hierarchy. The whole process could be cut streamlined to 1 phone screening and 1 session with the GM. Also, the Cafe Shift Leader online ad was a carbon copy with Cafe Manager ad but with lower pay and slightly lesser responsibilities. The trend used to be promoting from within--this is their first time advertising such position.
They accept applications all year long but only hire in March (pre-summer) and September (new school year).
