Meeting with people of the county was amazing but intense as you have to present to them. Overall, I fell in love with the position and the people. Unfortunately, the pay range was a 50k range. I figured with a masters and 20+ years of working experience/ 7-10 relatable years, I would have fallen in the middle of the pay range… I was offered 5k over minimum. At that range, I would have had a wondering eye and would have been looking for a better paying job quickly (which is not fair to the community). If they could’ve come up to mid-way, I planned to be there at least 5 years. I was told the high end of the range was for a PHD with 20 years of experience who is bilingual.
Just bummer that I had to turn the position down as the people of the county deserve the best. 65k as a director seems extremely low for a master graduate and someone who is highly motivated and liked by the community.
