      Vice President Interview

      Mar 31, 2018

      I interviewed at Comfy

      Interview

The interview process was pretty quick, about 3 weeks from when I applied to final decision (and it might have been even faster, had there not been scheduling conflicts on my end). That includes an initial phone screen with the recruiter; a follow-up phone screen with the hiring manager; a first-round on-site interview (with 5 or so people); a prep call for the second round interview; and a second-round on-site interview that included a case study / scenario and presentation. Overall, I think this was one of my best experiences as a candidate. The recruiter, Alicia, was clearly on top of things; her e-mails provided the right level of detail and she was really quick at answering any questions I had. The entire team that I interviewed with felt genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person and as a candidate. I was impressed that they offered me the option of a prep call before the second round, which was not only helpful but also very real (the prep material included detailed information about the product and customers, which gave me a good flavor for what working at the company would be like too). I was also impressed at the level of transparency and disclosure at the second round, including an update on the company's fundraise status; current health of the company; and so on--a lot of detail that I wouldn't have expected to get until after an offer (or perhaps even until after start-date at some companies). Overall, I think the interview did exactly what it is supposed to--give me the chance to shine (or not) :) as a candidate, while also highlighting the company culture and what working there would be like.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Had to sign an NDA so can't get into specifics, but most of the questions were pretty straightforward and fit into one of three areas: (i) trying to understand what I had done in the past; (ii) getting a feel for my management and collaboration style; and (iii) understanding how I think and my approach to problem solving.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Comfy (Oakland, CA) in Jan 2017

      Interview

I had a screen interview with the recruiter, met with the hiring manager then came onsite for interviews with 6-8 folks. I appreciated being able to meet the management team as well as the existing team. It meant more interviews onsite; however I had a better feel for the company culture and teaming environment.
