Had an initial interview with the recruiter. He was ill-prepared and very cocky, to the point that he was off-putting. The way in which he described the job made it sound more like a low-level Project Coordinator who is willing to travel. He often relied on the excuse that he had only been with the company 10 months when skirting questions. He bragged that they are hiring "many people from the big 4" consulting firms as if that should impress me. The pay is incredibly low for the industry and the area. Based on that I suspect anyone they are hiring from the large firms is taking this as a fill in while they look for something that pays $50-80K more per year. Also, the pay range that he quoted to me did not match the range on the job posting. Again, ill-prepared; he should know the range and details of the position. He also would not describe the position prior to my detailing my experience. Since the details as eventually described did not match the posted position, I stressed areas that I would have left out. And having heard the actual details of the position, I absolutely knew I am not interested. I had already told friends that the only reason I would accept the interview with the hiring manager would be to tell them about how their company was being presented.
