I had a really good conversation with the hiring manager and was interested in learning about plans to modernize the data infrastructure at Cook Children's. My conversation with the hiring manager left me exited about the possibility of working with him and his team. I had an in-person interview with his team and knew that even if I were offered a position I would decline it. His team seemed to focus on the fact that I had not used a tool called SSIS in a few years and spent about an hour drilling me about my limited use of SSIS. Part of the job role would be modernizing their infrastructure and this tool wouldn't even be used after about a year. Nobody learns how to use this tool anymore because it is so obsolete. Likewise, I was disappointed by the team's lack of more modern tools. I had to explain what Apache Airflow was and why you'd want to use an orchestration tool because nobody on his team had heard of it. I was also disappointed by one woman who kept writing notes to someone, looking off in the distance, and then shaking her head. I found it disrespectful and could not see myself working well with his team.
