Talk to a pi, lab rotations, email ahead to get connected, interview for one hour, forward to committee, and then get the offer a few weeks after. It is a committee based environment and reaching out is actually less important
Easy interview. They sent the questions over ahead of time and a group of three people took turns asking the questions. All interviewers were friendly and conversational. I felt very comfortable.
