Be aware that during the hiring process, the company asks for all your social media handles and personal questions about your personal life, including whether you’re married or have kids. These questions came up during my interview with the Head of Business Development, and I’m honestly not sure how appropriate or legal that is. I was recruited and went through several rounds, including a final in-person interview in Texas. While the recruitment team was friendly and professional, the final interview was one of the worst I’ve experienced. After flying in early and driving two hours, I sat down with someone who seemed completely disinterested — cutting me off mid-answer, looking down at his iPad, and making it clear he had already made up his mind. He even mentioned being concerned that I had “too much experience,” despite the fact that I was the one recruited for the role. I’m not upset about not being selected, but I left feeling disrespected and disappointed by how the process was handled. Candidates deserve better — both in how they’re treated and in the kinds of questions being asked.
