I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Corporate Tools in May 2019
Interview
Had a reasonable HR screening phone call, but was told that the company doesn't normally pay relocation, which should have been my first clue that this would not be a good company for me. I volunteered to drive out to meet with them, however. Was told they'd get back in a couple weeks, and they did before that time frame was over.
They asked if I was still interested in visiting, and I sent back possible dates I could go, but also asked if they would be able to provide a hotel room as I would be driving a fair distance. HR wrote back and said that they didn't provide hotel rooms for interviewees because "we don't want to manipulate or talk someone into working here. We want people to be as serious about the area as they are with the job." Told HR to withdraw my name from consideration and that I was kind of insulted by that response as I had previously said I was interested in the area and was willing to make a multi-hour drive to visit them and had merely asked about a hotel room--did that not mean I was serious? Then had a different person write back from HR (the first person had obviously shared my response with someone else) with no apology and covering the first person by saying the first person didn't insinuate I wasn't serious. Uh, yeah...they did. Check the quote.
Very disappointed with the last responses from the company. Incredibly unprofessional. I get that the company has a bit of a different philosophy, but I should have paid more attention to the previous applicant's interview review for this position.

Question 1
Asked about experience with IP, how I work with others, other typical screening questions.
The reason we don't pay relocation or travel expenses is that we treat everyone the same at Corporate Tools. The people scanning the mail, cleaning the bathrooms, answering emails, etc... They get the same benefits as the top of the top here. That's a core value to us. We tried to communicate that to you and we were very up front and honest about it.
