I had applied online on their own Costco site, but never got a reply until I went there physically and dropped off my resume to HR. The young lady took my resume and said "Okay, I'll keep it right over there (?) but we are NOT hiring until October, and it's only part-time, seasonal. Is that okay with you?" Yes, I replied. Thank you. Sure enough, this unknown number called me by end of September, but they didn't leave a message. So I checked the number on Google, and low and behold, it was the Costco that I've applied to. I called back that number, and a young man answered. I told him that this number had called me, but didn't leave a message on my voicemail. He asked for my name, and then went on with how he would like to set up an interview for October 1st, and if $15/hour was okay w/me. I said sure, I'll be there. October 1st. I go there at 12:50 for the scheduled 1:00 pm appointment. I tell the Customer Service Desk about my 1:00 o'clock interview, and they tell me to ask a supervisor (with the red jacket) over there by the registers. I ask this young supervisor girl and she tells me very coldly, with no eye contact to just sit and wait at the food court until someone comes and gets me. Over 20 minutes passes. I finally can't take it anymore and ask this other supervisor in the red jacket, right over there by the registers, about my interview. He was very cold and dry, and tells me to wait at the food court until someone calls me in. 1:35 or so, I finally get two ladies, one older one young (the young one who previously took my resume and shoved it right over there) and they take me to this room. They ask me retail, basic questions on how I would react to some customer situations. I answered them all, and sure I nailed them all because hey, 20 years in retail (food, clothing, you name it). The whole interview process took 15 minutes tops! The older HR lady asks me if I have any questions. I asked her when I should be expecting an answer from them, she said by Friday (I interviewed on Tuesday of the same week). She said, "If we call you, it's because we want to schedule a second interview with the manager. Otherwise, we will send you an email should we decide to go with other candidates. Does that work for you?" I said sure, wonderful! Thank you for your time, and hope to hear from you soon! It's October 9, 2019, and I didn't get a call for a second interview, or a lousy, Costco email to tell me "Hey, old goat, we decided to go with other (younger, inexperienced candidates, so we can pay them peanuts and take advantage of them) instead of you, with lots of experience. But since you're over 40, forget it." I'm still waiting for them to give me the YES or NO answer. The fact that they called and didn't leave me a message on my voicemail means that they never had the intention of hiring me in the first place. They just called to cover their back, otherwise it makes it very obvious that they are discriminating against people 40 and over, and they can get sued BIG TIME. Their competitor, Sam's Club, did the exact same thing. Colorado Springs does NOT like people from other states (transplants like me). Forget about applying for the most demeaning job, because they won't even hire you. BE WARNED!!!
