After applying online with a CV and cover letter, I was invited to a video interview. This meant I was talking in front of a camera to answer questions that appeared on a screen, with no one listening on the other end. You got 1 minute to read the question and prepare your answer, and up to 5 minutes to talk. This felt quite awkward but I somehow got to the next stage.
I was sent an assessment task which I thought was quite simple. However, I was met with their generic rejection email (which uses the excuse of there being other strong candidates at this time) and no feedback.
I had to email them for feedback, and I was shocked when they came back notifying me that I had only gotten one part of the assessment below the standard they were looking for. ONE PART. This is an entry level role and the job advert stated that you did not need prior experience in admin. It is ridiculous that they are expecting candidates to be completely perfect from the start. The real joke is that I don't think anyone from the office I applied to got to see my application. I presume their 'talent acquisition' team does all the work before picking who gets the grace to be seen in person. Maybe I am just salty about being turned down for a job I really wanted, but I don't think it should be this hard to get seen at an interview for an entry level role.
