I had a phone interview with HR. During the interview, I was told that I must be proficient with multiple non-industry softwares. Honestly, I said I didn't have experience with any of the software she was asking about. She referenced TV commercials and said she's sure I must have heard of it.
I told her, yes, I've heard of it but it's a $3k software package and I don't own it or haven't used it at any other company. She then said that she didn't expect anyone not in that niche division to have used it before so that wasn't a big deal. When I asked if they would train for that onsite, she was astounded that I'd even asked. 'Of course we train' and 'you'll only be a temp until we can find someone better'.
I didn't matter what question I asked. This woman either 1. didn't like my voice or 2. didn't like her job or 3. was having a bad day and unprofessionally taking it out on me.
I've been working through a recruiter for years, doing all kinds of admin-type work. I've never come across anyone with this much of an attitude. Ever.
In the end, they're paying very little money and expecting "I hope I get this" leash while searching for someone who has the skills they're looking for.
The interview was resoundingly negative. Be professional - this woman has no sense of humour - professional humour, at that - at all.
