I applied to a posting by Curtiss Wright via Linked In for a job that stated "Full Time" and had no mention of temporary or indirect hire status. I was contacted via email by their receptionist to schedule an interview. I interviewed with the department manager for whom I would be working. He showed me around the facility; discussed my experience, etc. I was told I was replacing someone who was out on medical leave after a workplace injury. Again no mention of temporary or non-direct hire status. Positive interview. Left feeling I would get the job. A few days later I was contacted by a third-party "Employer of Record" organization congratulating and offering me a 6-month contract position. This thoroughly confused me as, 1) I had not been contacted by Curtiss Wright telling me I'd been hired; 2) I'd not been told it was temporary; 3) nor was I ever told I would not be a direct hire. Curtiss Wright posted the job ad; Curtiss Wright called me for the interview; I interviewed with Curtiss Wright. For lack of a better term, this is false advertising. The job posting I think was deliberately misleading. It should have mentioned it as a temporary position and that it was contracted-out employment situation. Had I known up front this were the situation I would not have even applied for the position. While I did take the position (but have subsequently received another job offer elsewhere), this was a disappointment. I also learned on the job speaking to other employees there like me that they hire people in this capacity ("temporary" and employed through the "employer of record") and keep them like that, and just "extend" their temporary status over and over. While the employer of record does offer benefits, they are of an exorbitant cost. They also offer no paid holidays or PTO to hourly workers. Again, I would not have applied if I'd known this was the case.
