The HR called me about some pre-screen questions and then set up a technical phone interview. All of that went well, so I was expecting a positive response. But what I got was "the position isn't as critical as of now to be getting budget approval" so they did not want to move ahead in the process. It was really frustrating that this wasn't decided prior to the phone interview. All said and done, I forgot about it. After a few days I get an email from another HR person again about the above position, which is weird because according to the previous HR this position wasn't hiring anymore. So was it a ploy to tell me that I am not the right candidate? I dont know. I contact this other HR person to see if the position has become available, and give him some history about it, and again no response from them until now. It seems like they were caught cheating on a candidate, so they went silent.
It was just very unprofessional, I wish they were more honest. I was really excited for this opportunity, the company overall seems great and the product is great too. It was just very disappointing.

Interview
I applied online. Got HR screening interview, technical phone interview, and then onsite interview. The onsite interview was a one-on-one with 4 individuals and a tour of the company at the end - totally it took 3 hours. Questions included SQL, testing tools and methodologies, as well as personalities. The hiring process was about a week. I didn't get an offer but overall it was a positive experience.
