Round 1: resume and profile shortlisting
Round 2: grammer test, product test, cognitive assessment
Round 3: group discussion
Round 4: interview
Round 5: selection and unpaid training
There was significant mismanagement and miscommunication during the process.
My GD went very well—longer than most others—featuring multiple follow-up and cross-questioning rounds from the panel. The panel appreciated my responses and even hinted that I was moving to the next round. Several people present later complimented me, saying I performed best among all. Everything seemed perfect.
However, my attendance was not marked, and I was recorded as absent. As a result, I never received the interview round email. Ironically, I noticed some candidates who did get shortlisted struggled to pronounce words clearly and had very limited content to share.
This was surprising, especially since the job description explicitly highlighted strong English communication skills. For context, I’m an ICSE pass-out, scored 98 percentile in CUET English, was allotted Delhi University North Campus in the first counseling round, and have won numerous communication-related competitions while holding multiple leadership positions.
While I understand there can be selection criteria beyond my knowledge and I am also not perfect, it is difficult to reconcile how candidates with weak basic communication skills were chosen over stronger profiles.
There was also no direct email or contact provided to raise and resolve such issues.
In the end, it’s not just that a deserving candidate lost an opportunity—it’s also that Cvent lost a potential high-value Product Consultant. They may have many other candidates, but I also have many better companies where my skills and the role requirements align perfectly.
