In my job interview first two rounds went fine and I was invited for a third round (face to face). As I need to travel for 10 hours in bus from my native place, I asked for overnight stay assistance. The manager replied that they will plan the interview in such a way as to attend and return home in the same day, and the company can support in flight tickets in such case. Further they required snapshots of flight tickets for this journey, so that they will confirm the interview subsequently. After some research I could not find return tickets for the same day, so I proposed a flight for my departure and a bus travel for my return on the same day so that I can skip a hotel stay. After few hours they replied that they could not reimburse flight ticket and asked me to travel to and fro in bus or train. Further they notified me that I need to support the overnight stay on my own and the company can only reimburse bus travel costs. I requested them to give me the maximum reimburse limit, so that I can pay the excess amount of my own. The manager again insisted me in sending the snap shots of bus tickets or train tickets in order to plan the interview. Train option is not convenient for me and getting tickets in a short notice is difficult in India and I am not comfortable in two way bus journey with out overnight stay assistance from the company.
All these drama went on for 2 hours. Finally I insisted them to reimburse my onward flight and return bus ticket in order to participate in the interview. Few days back they replied that the interview is on hold.
How can they justify such illogical and unsteady behavior from their managers? If managers propose some thing they should with held their promise. Companies of their caliber can easily reimburse costs equivalent to second class tickets so that we can attend the interview comfortably.
I request the company to look in to this issue and change their recruitment policy.

There was an initial screening interview and an introduction interview where we discussed the job and my expertise.
