      Program Coordinator Interview

      Nov 1, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Bronx, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DREAM (Bronx, NY)

      Interview

We had the initial interview over the phone, after which I was invited for an in-person interview. The phone interview went well and I received my invitation for the in-person interview within an hour after speaking with the Hiring Manager. We scheduled my in-person interview for the following week. The interview consisted of my giving a lesson to a group of middle school-aged students, followed by a debriefing and interview. While I was giving my lesson to the group of students, the interviewer was distracted and hardly paying attention. Afterwards, we discussed the lesson and I received feedback, as well as giving my own critique. I was then invited to present any questions I may have had concerning the role or organization. I asked quite a few and the responses were rather short and thoughtless. After my questions, they informed me that they did not have any questions for me, essentially skipping over any 'interview' that may have taken place. Both individuals with whom I was interviewing seemed very disinterested in the interview and it was, to be frank, very rude. It was clear to me that they had most likely already found the candidate and they were going through the motions with my interview. In which case, I would have appreciated them letting me know beforehand and cancelling the interview. To confirm my suspicion, I received an email the next day informing me that they had decided to move forward with another candidate. I'm glad they found someone to fill the role, however, it would have been more considerate to either cancel my interview or at least give me proper respect and consideration during the interview. It was very unprofessional.
