Initial email exchanges with HR generally were ok. I then did a phone screen interview with one of the Darktrace employees who was performing cybersecurity specialist role. This consisted of some general cybersecurity-related questions and my previous experience. I was put forward for the Interview, which was done over a video call. There was one interviewer who in my opinion was very mundane and not encouraging, of all the interviews I have ever done she was without a doubt the worst interviewer. She asked me questions relating to the products and how they perform, I gave a high-level explanation and later she decided to unnecessarily explain the same information in more detail. I was asked where would be the best place to insert the product to capture network traffic. I was also asked what would be considered essential network security fundamentals relatively basic stuff. A few days later I received an email I was unsuccessful in the interview from HR. when asked for feedback none was provided nor did I receive an email. The Irony in the situation is that the 2 interviewers had absolutely no education or certification relating to cybersecurity one had an HR degree the other had a physics degree. Effectively this position is a glorified helpdesk and sales job with a specialist title added to it. The responsibility of the position is to set up a trial of the product to meet the customer's specific needs by using one or more of Darktrace products. If they decide to purchase the product you are responsible for looking after them with technical assistance.
