      Solutions Architect Interview

      Jul 18, 2026
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Databricks in Jul 2026

      Interview

I was connected to a leader at the end of March, he sent me a job posting for a SA role in Chicago with the healthcare industry. About 3-4 weeks go by and I hadn't heard anything after he 'submitted me' for that role. My friend who connected me followed up with this individual, then a few weeks later I hear from a recruiter who wants to do the recruiter screen. This recruiter asks me partway through, what had me interested in an SA role within manufacturing. I paused since the role I was submitted for was not within manufacturing. But after taking 60 days to get a recruiter screen after the day of application referral I didn't want to delay things further and technically I was agnostic to the sector. After the recruiter screen it was several weeks before I was told I would be moving on to the next steps. I got a congratulations email we would like to connect you with a hiring manager email. But never received a follow up to schedule. I reached out a few weeks later and was told that because I had expressed interest in potential leadership roles (only in response to his offer to socialize my candidacy, I ignorantly assumed sharing my interest would help him know who to socialize things to) he hadn't reached out. But after a brief phone call we were back on track. A week or so later I received an invitation to book an interview with the hiring manager. However, the link that I was given did not come with any availability, before selecting my availability it defaulted to telling me there were no times available. This went on for a week or so before I finally booked my interview. At my interview there was a last minute switch and someone else was sent to fill-in on my interview instead of the original hiring manager. Interview went well, was very easy, hiring manager said they're in the middle of a 'hiring blitz.' Upon sending a thank you email I was informed I was not being moved forward in the process. Somewhat demoralizing since I have already passed through this job application process twice before. Overall, rejection is part of this game. I would say Databricks is moving at a snails pace. Is running at a 4/10 in terms of raw communication.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Regular questions 'tell me about a time...' and whatnot. Not very technical. I received constant responses from the interviewer, 'very good response' to multiple responses I gave but apparently that wasn't the case(?)

      Application

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter for an initial call. My background and experience were not aligned with the role, so we did not proceed to the next round. Unfortunately, the interview experience was not very positive. The recruiter was late to the scheduled call, and the communication style felt somewhat one-sided and pushy rather than collaborative. I would have appreciated a more balanced and respectful conversation.
