I had submitted my application online and been emailed a day later to select a time for a group interview. I had shown up to the interview 20 minutes early in the location that was requested. Someone had come to collect the people who were there for the interview 10 minutes after the scheduled time that the interview was supposed to actually start. We were put into groups of 8 -10 at a table and had to fill out some paperwork. After this a HR manager spoke about the company for half; which was extremely draining and boring.
An interviewer had come to sit at our table to explain how the interview process would work. First we had to introduce ourselves to everyone else on the table and talk about our previous experience working in hospitality. After this we were put into pairs and were told we had to come up with a solution if 'something like this' had happened whilst we were working; after we came up with a solution we had to share it with the rest of the table and we were able to have input if we would do anything differently that another group had come up with. After this we were told to talk between ourselves for 10-20 minutes.. because the interviewer was 'busy' filling out paperwork.
We then moved on to one on one interviews with the interviewer from our table. We were told we had to 'sell ourselves'. The one on one interview process was extremely ridiculous as we were not asked any questions whatsoever apart from "what do I need to know?" and we were expected to know exactly what the interviewer wanted to hear and know. The interviewer made it rather obvious that they were not listening half the time you were speaking and it made it very uncomfortable and feel like a complete waste of time. The interview process was extremely disorganised as it had started 15 minutes late and the atmosphere of the interview was very unpleasant.
Quick and easy in-person process. They asked for my history in hospitality, as well as any current workers that I may know. They also asked which area that I would prefer to work in
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Delaware North (Melbourne) in Feb 2025
Interview
The interview took place at Marvel Stadium.
We were a very large group, they first talked about the company and what kind of roles were available and then proceeded to do individual interviews. They called us one by one and had a short chat with us (max 10mins).
